About this tool

The AI Readiness Self-Assessment Tool for School Organisations has been developed through a collaboration between CREDtech at the University of Gothenburg and Göteborgsregionen (GR).

What is this tool?

This tool supports school organisations in making informed and transparent decisions about how they approach AI. The premise is that the implementation of AI is not merely a technical issue, but also a strategic and values-based one. Different organisations prioritise different perspectives when introducing AI. These priorities, in turn, shape how AI is governed, interpreted, and used in the school’s educational and administrative work. The tool is based on five distinct approaches to AI implementation: Analysis and Quality, Efficiency and Automation, Knowledge and Democracy, Student Support and Learning, and Technology and Procurement. Each focus area describes a specific way of viewing the purpose of AI, the value of the technology, and the potential consequences AI may have on school operations.

What will you do in the tool?

You begin by indicating how you would prefer to prioritise the various focus areas within your organisation. This step clarifies your strategic intentions. Next, you will answer a series of questions about how your organisation currently works with AI. The questions concern, for example, practices, routines, and decision-making processes related to AI. The answers make it possible to identify which areas are currently most prominent in your organization’s daily work. At the end of the assessment, you’ll receive a visual radar profile showing how your organisation’s current practices align with your preferred priorities. The purpose is not to rank or evaluate different performance levels, but to support structured reflection, leadership dialogue, and strategic alignment in contexts where AI is becoming part of the school’s knowledge infrastructure.
